What are green clays?
Green clays are curative volcanic ashes that detoxify and restore mineral balance. This Illite clay contains only natural materials treated mechanically without any chemical additives. As a bacteria-destroying agent it can render contaminated water innocuous. When ingested, it travels along the digestive tract eliminating toxic agents and bacteria.
How does it detoxify?
Highly prized for centuries, green clay is known for having greater absorbency than other clays. It has the ability to draw toxins and impurities from the skin, to tone by bringing blood to surface areas, and to exfoliate dead skin cells, thereby improving the skin’s overall health and appearance. As a detoxifying agent in face and body masks, therapy baths, cellulite treatments, scalp problems, foot care, or as a poultice to comfort joints and muscles, green clay is one of the most effective and versatile healing catalysts.
Neat ways to mix Green Illite clay
Powdered clays can be mixed with a variety of liquids including apple cider vinegar, aloe vera, distilled water, floral waters, and mineral water. Some people incorporate a small amount of honey, seaweed, algae,
or other natural substances.
Traditional Internal Use: Stir one teaspoon (3 g) into a glass of water (avoid using a metal spoon). Allow to stand at least 15 minutes (preferably overnight) and drink the clear water or stir and drink the "clay milk" first thing in the morning and as needed, or as directed by a health care professional.
Mix with floral water (hydrolat), distilled water, or herbal tea to make a spreadable paste. Add essential oil if desired (see the Windrose blending guide for proper dilution guidelines). Apply the paste as a poultice as needed or use as a weekly facial mask. Refrigerate or discard unused portion.
Caution: Always avoid eye area and other mucous membranes. Do not use on sensitive, broken, or irritated skin. Always discard clay after use.
